The Xerxes was a canceled Clan Aerospace fighter that could not be finished before the 0.7.0 final beta release.

However, since development restarted, the Xerxes was released in the 0.8.3 patch in 2017. It supercedes the Visigoth as the heaviest Clan aerospace fighter by a large margin, as many variants of the Xerxes carry immense anti-ground firepower in the form of direct-fire weapons such as the air UAC20 and a significant payload of bombs for finishing off damaged targets. In this regard, it is very similar to the Shiva - lethal to unwary ground units, yet helpless against enemy aerospace assets. Every variant boast Rear Firing Laser.

Roles and Gameplay Hints

Prime

One of the deadliest aerospace fighters in MWLL, the Prime variant makes use of two air UAC20s to deliver crushing firepower against any ground assets during a strafing run. The two Air CERLLs provide some additional damage when lining up a pass, while the high explosive Bombs are excellent for delivering the killing blow or for hitting targets trying to hide from the rain of shells. With its incredible firepower, this Xerxes is a player favorite, provided no opposing air cover is present.

Variant A

If you feel like your allies are not pressured enough by your absence on the battlefield, why not pressure them even more for them to TAG/Narc for you? If they comply, you no longer have to pretend like you are trying or caring and let your 50 air LRMs and 3 Laser-Guided Bomb guide themselves. What could possibly go wrong there.

Variant B - "Apep"

When you dont feel like trying too hard, pick this Xerxes variant. Just lock your 30 Air ATM (Std) and let loose, they will deal tons of damage. You dont even have to bother with heavy lasers, just ocasionally drop your cluster Bomb because why not.

Variant C - "Storm"

2 air LBX10 with 2 Air CERPPC, all wrapped in explosion caused by total of 9 High Explosive Bombs. Not bad i guess... and 2 Air CMPL for pew pew pew

Variant D

2 Air Gauss paired with 2 Air CLPL and 3 Laser-Guided Bombs that are unlikely to hit without guidance. What an AMAZING pick of Xerxes variant!

Variant E

Budget Xerxes prime when those ungrateful teammates dont want to give you C-Bills. But you have 2 air UAC10s, 4 cERML and 12 air SSRMs with total of 9 High Explosive Bombs. Its not like every teammate is dissapointed in you because you were not able to get prime or anything, dont worry about it, it's not your fault it's everyone else's fault...

Variant F

Because diving, so you could hit with 20 cSRMs, is perfectly safe. Before you get inrange for those, don't forget to spray your target with 4 Air cUAC5s and drop 3 Cluster Bombs on your way out. Thats all there is to it, because the only other thing you can do is to get uppercutted by a mech or get shot down by various assets and not just mechs.

Variant G - "Suplex"

The only suplex you will be doing is to your team because, lets face it, you took ASF with twin HAG20 and GECM so you could be far away from any fight. That is untill you get smoked by any fighter because you are too far away from teammates. Only thing worse than that would be your inability to aim (lol). But it does not matter anyway, everyone hates you because you had money for prime and still decided to buy this. Shamefur dispray

Canon

The Xerxes is an 85 ton second-line air supremacy Aerospace Fighter, nicknamed the Hunchback IIC of the skies. Its main role was to bring down enemy aerospace quickly, its heavy armor allowing it to survive prolonged engagements against more agile assets, though it was also a deadly ground attack fighter capable of crippling Mechs. Designed by Clan Smoke Jaguar, the Xerxes mounts two UAC20 on its wings and 2 ERLL, making it able to strip off enormous amounts of armor in a single pass. A squadron of Xerxes can easily bring destruction to any unit that managed to withstand its first strike. It also saw use in space battles, where its immense array of weapons could tear away the main armor of DropShips with other fighters finishing what was left. After the annihilation of Clan Smoke Jaguar, Clan Hell's Horses captured the factory where the Xerxes was being built, leading to a variant mounting two ERLL and two Gauss Rifles.
