The Chevalier is an Inner Sphere tank introduced with MWLL 0.6.0. It is notable because it is the first non-hover light tank, as well as the first wheeled tank.
It is very nimble and mounts good armor for such a light vehicle. It is only lightly armed, having only slightly better weapons then the Harasser hovercraft, but it makes up for it by mounting a BHP as well as a C3 on every variant, giving it immense scouting capabilities.

Note that it is not able to turn on it's own axis like other tracked or hover vehicles due to it's wheeled nature.

Roles and Gameplay hints

Prime

A fast and cheap all-around unit, the Chevalier prime can punch holes with the PPC and then exploit them with the SRM-4 launcher. A good ECM suit helps increase survivability.

Variant A

This is a rather powerful fire-support unit for its price tag. The Light Gauss has extreme range and excels as a sniper weapon on the right hands. The LRM-5 dishes additional damage. The Bloodhound Active Probe helps in finding both threats and targets.

Variant B

A prime scout variant. The LBX and the Small Beam Lasers provide impressive short-range defense for such a light asset, and the TAG marks targets for allied units. The Bloodhound Probe is ideal to find hidden threats and the Advanced ECM suite helps avoiding enemy lock-ons.

Variant C

A powerful, speedy skirmisher capable of both infliction heavy damage and, using cover, taking a small beating. The greatest advantage of the Chevy C is it's speed, hitting power, and range, which it can use to effectively kite short-range opponents. As it could be assumed, the Chevalier C is a very good money maker, dishing out large amounts of damage while having very low upkeep costs. However, as with all Chevaliers, the C has a relatively low amount of armor and care must be used when closing the distance. Especially because the Chevalier C has such eclectic lead times.

Variant D

The "Chevaleer,"while good on paper, is a comparatively lackluster variant. Low overall DPS, degraded further by the Chevalier's stiff suspension, along with less than adequate heat dispersion, make this variant the 'runt of the litter'.

Variant E

While the Variant E mounts the generally looked-down upon AC10, it is held in high regard by many players. Some even consider the Chevalier E to be the best Chevalier, despite it being the cheapest; The AC10 does a surprising amount of damage when held on target, and the 3 SPLs are capable of inflicting grievous damage on top of that, and are especially good for cutting off arms. The Chevalier E has a pretty low damage output against light mechs and some mediums due to the hit-detection problems of the AC10, however, it is not an uncommon sight to see a Chevalier E murder a careless assault with little or no assistance. The 'E' variant is a mech-slayer.

Canon

The Chevalier Light Tank was produced by and for the Star League. The Succession Wars devastated the stores of the Chevalier as the Successor States often cannibalized them for parts. Only Millennium Industries of Terra continued to produce the design, and that was snapped up by ComStar. Though the top speed is only 97 km/h, it is still respectable for a wheeled vehicle. It is protected by six and a half tons of armor.
